[Tale Telling] Bilbo Baggins? Also a semi-Battle Report against The Riders of Theoden

As promised in my proper Battle Report I have another game to touch on. However! First I want to talk about Bilbo Baggins and his possible place in my usual 750 Point Army. So let's do that.   Damn You, Monsters and High Fight! One of the bigger weaknesses of my current army is that I have little to no answer for either more than one, or Magic Resistant, threats. Bard can Heroic Strike a few times but his Fight 5 means it's unlikely to work out against another Hero. Galadriel can Immobilize but later game it won't always go off and can be Resisted. Past that I'm mostly hoping they don't roll 6's, which is shockingly viable at times but ultimately not an actual plan. Enter one Mr. Bilbo Baggins. If you aren't familiar with him, by most accounts he's a pretty bad model. Very poor fighter, slow, not survivable, overpriced. His main selling point is, of course, The One Ring . And this version has no drawbacks, take that Sauron! Now we have a 90 Point Bat S...

[Battle Report] Is It Wednesday? We Fightin' Then! - Lothlórien & Survivors of Lake-Town VS Rivendell (750 Points)

While my weekend hobby failures continue to pile up (Holidays!) my mid-week respites from worldly duties continue to pay dividends. I hope to be back to gaming two days a week, consistently, after Christmas. Regardless, I'm trying to get as much practice as I can since LVO is about 6 weeks out and I'd like to have a respectable showing. This week I got two games, but only did a Battle Report for one. I will go into the second game in a separate post along with a few other musings so if you're interested, check that out. For now I'm against Adam, one of the most reliable regulars in our group, and his Rivendell. Adam normally bounces between a few favored armies and has picked up Isengard recently but I was happy to see Elves on the table. For one I haven't played against pure Elves, at all, except my first demo game. There also happens to be a certain Mr. Glorfindel tagging along which is a big threat to my army, seeing if I can handle him should make for an excitin...

[Tale Telling] Working My Brain Around Easterlings in Competitive Play

Note: I had written up a different version of this but wasn't happy with how rambly it became. Hopefully this is more focused while providing similar information.   For those of the competitive persuasion, Easterlings have been a topic of conversation since the Defense of the North Expansion Book dropped and brought a massive update to the faction. While this was a good thing for the game, as Easterlings are a popular army but were quite underloved/underpowered, the pendulum swung too far the other way. While not an unbeatable army, Easterlings push out many, many armies as they outclass them in terms of winning Duels and general reliability. Let me compile a quick list of why this is: 12" Banner Effect with no Penalty, tied to a 6 Wound Model 6" +1 Fight Aura Extra Banner Effect for Heroes (Legendary Legion) Free Black Dragon Upgrade for +1 Courage and Fight (Legendary Legion) Access to Heroic March and a Drum 8-9pt Warriors for a normal or slightly heightened Warrior ...
